Southeastern Louisiana University has served as a home to so many of us. We received a quality education, made irreplaceable memories, and lifelong connections. Upon graduating, many of us moved on, but we still have roots in SLU. As alumni, we believe we should always have a connection to our beloved university.

Despite this, SLU has recently declared that they will be deactivating the SLU email accounts of anyone who is not currently a student, faculty, or staff. This means that ALL alumni who are no longer active students/employees of SLU will lose their email accounts entirely. Some of us have had these email accounts for a decade or longer. Years of work, documents, and important contacts are held within these email inboxes. Furthermore, many of us have our student email accounts tied to other very important online accounts. To transfer YEARS of these very important documents is highly impractical and nearly impossible for some. SLU has decided to make this change and has given us too short of notice, as the deactivation is to take place this summer (Summer 2021). 

SLU has the power to prevent this. So many of us alumni feel neglected. We have been a part of this university for many years. Many of us chose SLU over other universities because we felt it was the best fit for us and it stood out among the rest. Today, us same alumni feel like SLU is erasing such a major aspect of our lives and a post-graduation tie to the university. Please, help us be heard. Sign the petition so Southeastern Louisiana University can see how many of us are directly opposed to this deactivation of our SLU email accounts.
