South Western Sydney Metro problem

South Western Sydney Metro problem
The issue
Many people living in Austral and Leppington face daily commuting challenges due to the lack of efficient public transport options. A metro system in Austral, Leppington, and surrounding areas would drastically improve connectivity, reduce traffic congestion, and provide reliable, sustainable transportation. Additionally, converting the train line between Leppington and Glenfield into a metro line that connects to the Western Sydney Airport line would enhance regional accessibility, supporting future growth.
Despite Bankstown receiving a metro upgrade, Leppington and surrounding areas—experiencing more rapid economic and population growth—still suffer from inadequate infrastructure. The disparity is striking, as our communities are underserved by public transport and face poor road conditions. A metro system here would address these gaps, promoting equitable development and future-proofing the region.
If a metro or at least a large rapid transit bus line is not built, commuters from Austral or Leppington wanting to use public transport to reach Western Sydney Airport will have to travel all the way to St Marys before transferring to the metro. This first leg alone takes 1 hour and 10 minutes, while a car can make the journey in just 19 minutes. This forces many residents to rely on private cars or expensive car services, exacerbating congestion and increasing travel costs.
Better infrastructure means shorter commutes and a more connected community. Please sign this petition to push for a metro system that benefits everyone in the region. Let's improve public transport and future-proof our cities.
Proposed Line (Priority)
The Western Sydney airport line extends south from aerotropolis to Bringelly before turning to either Rossmore station, which is optional to support future growth, or Leppington train station which will be converted to a metro. After Leppington, until Glenfield, the train tracks is converted into metro to save money on maintaining two types of tracks. Glenfield acts as an interchange for people to get on trains. It is ridiculous that this could save commuters so much time and extremely close yet this line is not being converted. Since the proposal is using mostly existing infrastructure, it is also budget friendly. This proposal will also allow people to transition between airports much faster.
Proposed line 2 (Good for future development but not needed now)
When Bankstown was announced to get a metro line, many people were upset that it did not get extended down to Liverpool. This proposed line goes down from Bankstown to Condell park and possibly Georges Hall and Chipping Norton, a station may not be built here due to flood warnings. Then, it goes down to Liverpool station where its commuters could interchange to normal trains, it then travels to Lurnea and Cartwright which are generally poorer areas, both economically and in infrastructure, but are booming in population, a metro could support economic growth and growth in infrastructure. It then goes to Hoxton Park before going to East Austral, which will be an optional station to support the massive growth in Austral, the line continues to the main Austral station, Rossmore North and finishing at Aerotropolis. The government has said that the metro may be extended to Liverpool in the next 20 years, but the extension just to Liverpool is too short and 20 years is too long for something so simple and easy to build.
Currently, there are plans to build multiple new shopping centres and town centres in Austral, a metro could be built nearby to improve accessibility.
It would be greatly appreciated if you could sign these as well:
