To prevent the erection of new houses at Coat Road by Barrett Homes

The Issue

Currently Barrett Homes are wanting to erect in excess of 100 new houses at Coat Road Martock Somerset. Martock is a village that is not equipped to host an additional 120 new houses.

Martock Church of England Primary School is the local school and is currently full to capacity with a waiting list for children to attend. Some local children have been refused entry and are required to attend other village schools.

Martock Doctor’s Surgery are struggling as it is to cater for the residents of Martock. They have issued notices to inform residents that they are unable to cater for all residents.

North Street struggles with the amount of traffic that currently passes through due to on street parking and being a narrow street. Having another ~200 cars pass through the road at peak times on a daily basis would cause chaos. New residents would be required to travel during peak times for work reasons as there are not enough job opportunities in Martock.

Martock has seen an increase of crime, with an additional build of 120 houses the crime rate would rise. There is little for teenagers to do in their free time and there would be more loitering of teenagers.

Below are signatures of people who are opposed to the erection of new houses by Barrett Homes at Coat Road Martock. Unfortunately not all people opposed are able to attend the planning meeting due to alternative commitments I.e. Transport, Work, Holidays, Collecting Children from school, Ill health etc.
