Bancon Homes & HJ Paterson have gained Planning permission on 23rd December 2021 application P/21/1391 and one of the conditions of that approved planning is Condition 8, which requires a very dangerous Substandard Road Berebriggs Road Strathaven to be upgraded from a single track road to a full 2 lane carriageway, Since the application being approved on 23rd December 2021, a short time later 15th January 2022 the developer Bancon Homes and HJ Paterson have made an application to modify condition 8 to allow further houses to be built without implementing and upgrade of Berebriggs road. The main developer of the land HJ Paterson has already profited many millions from the building of 179 new homes which has had a massive impact on the volume of traffic using BB Road, this impact has resulted in many accidents and road safety issues leaving local residents at risk whilst driving on Berebriggs Road. The trigger point for the upgrade of Berebriggs road is on the 180 house, that has came and gone. Bancon and HJ Paterson have now gained planning for a further 105 houses with a balance of a further 200 houses or more and the latest application approved is for a further 105 houses to be built with strict condition 8 to fully upgrade the single track road to a 2 lane carriageway. The current road is not safe and in a dangerous condition with the additional 179 houses already built and the developer agreed to the planning Condition 8 for the further 105 homes, but since gaining planning permission less than 2 months ago, the developers are attempting to get out of condition 8 to upgrade the road on the 180 house. This should not be allowed, the road is already dangerous with the additional traffic volume from the 179 houses already built and the developer should not be allowed to build any further houses until they upgrade berebriggs road as per planning condition 8 which states (No development shall take place on the site until a scheme, approved in writing by the Planning Authority, for the carriageway widening of Berebriggs Road to permit two way flow along its entire length has been implemented in full in accordance with the agreed scheme). The purpose of this petition is to ensure compliance by the developer to upgrade of berebriggs road as per the planning condition 8 to ensure public and community/resident safety whilst driving on berebriggs road. Lets all ensure Berebriggs Road is made Safe Again and ensure the developers are held accountable and adhere to the planning condition 8 to ensure Berebriggs Road is upgraded to be safe for all road users and Strathaven Residents.
