Dear South Kingstown Town Council,

In 2018, South Kingstown received a $380,000 grant to construct a laundry facility at Champagne Heights.  As of today, the residents there have seen no progress on a laundry facilitate,

Many residents at Champagne Heights struggle to get their laundry done due to cost, childcare needs, transportation access, amongst other issues. Low-income residents of Champagne Heights are forced to exacerbate their economic disadvantages by spending up to hundreds of dollars a month on laundry expenses alone.

We request that the Town of South Kingstown begin the construction of the laundry facility immediately. In addition, we request that the Town Manager and Housing Authority Director meet with the residents of Champagne Heights to establish the timeline, capacity and rules for laundry facility use.
