Provide Funding - or Re-home the Animals at Waccatee Zoo
The Issue
The Waccatee Zoo in Myrtle Beach SC has, for too long, been an unacceptable home for many species of animals. One visit to the zoo reveals starving animals living in cages that are far too small to promote healthy activity. This zoo goes beyond animal neglect and charges patrons to walk through an unsafe, unsanitary, yard full of restless creatures.
The zoo itself doesn't receive any state funding - yet clams to be a rescue facility. Either the state needs to fund it as such, or these animals need to be re-homed where they will receive proper veterinary care and nutrition, as well as a location that has the ability to give them the space they need.
