Better Tennis Court in South Brunswick Township, NJ

The Issue

Dear SBTS Parks & Recreation,

We need to call your attention to the poor condition of the Woodlot Park Tennis Court. The tennis courts are in extremely poor condition. There are cracks all over the places. One out of five courts are completely broken. Even the nets are completely broken. Based on our last summer experience, we often saw the courts getting filed with the water whenever it rains. This condition causes tennis ball getting wet and damaged for many people. Also due to the wet surface, certain parts of tennis courts become quite slippery. Much of crowd playing tennis often complain about the poor condition of tennis court and about the township not taking any actions. South Brunswick township has many other good recreation areas even with the flood lights (other than Tennis courts) on Rowland Park but not enough people are using it. We have seen this poor conditions for past 3-4 years but the South Brunswick Township are not taking any actions at all.

We have read the details about the tennis court condition on the township website. However, as a local resident, we want to have better public recreation areas and better facilities. We have seen other townships having much better tennis courts facilities other than South Brunswick township.  Also, many of our friends reached out to the schools but they are not allowing to use the school tennis court. Even township like Montgomery, North Brunswick and others are allowing their township resident to use the School Courts during off school hours.

We would sincerely like to request the township management to fix the tennis court as soon as possible and also install the lights at Kingsley Tennis Court so local community people can enjoy playing during late evening hours as other option until the new facility gets built or the existing one getting repaired.

Regards,

South Brunswick Township Resident
