Save lives - mandate the labelling of all gas bottles containing LPG with a warning!
The issue
Patrick Jack Ryan....Paddy to all of us that loved him was a cheeky, loving and amazing kid. He was a gun footballer and a talented basketball player. At 16 he'd just started surfing and lived life to the fullest. He was someone that everyone loved and enjoyed being around. On Sat the 8th of Feb he had a few friends round, they cooked a BBQ for tea and left the kitchen spick and span....his dads only request before heading out for a quiet party close by with a few mates. What should have been a normal, happy Saturday night turned into everyone's worst nightmare! Paddy made a tragic silly mistake.....he sucked the gas from an LPG BBQ gas bottle thinking it was just some fun and he paid the ultimate price! His body couldn't handle the gas....it was just meant to be a bit of fun....but he ended up suffering massive heart failure and died in the early hours of Sunday morning the 9th of February 2020. His loss has not only devestated his family and loved ones but his whole community. Over the last month we have learned that this is a thing! That our kids are doing it all around the country and have no idea how dangerous it is.....we didn't know but please let's not let one more of them suffer as he did. We are urging the Government to take immediate action to mandate the labelling of all gas bottles containing LPG with a warning that “INHALATION MAY CAUSE DEATH” (or similar wording). Please help us make a stand for Paddy, to honour his memory and fight to keep a tragedy like this from happening to anyone else's family. By lending your support to this petition we hope to make sure no other family, friends or community suffer the loss of another bright young man or woman. Fly high Paddy Jack.....heroes come and go but legends are forever!
