Healthcare workers wanting to review the legal logic, scientific ethics and social morality around this case, are not going get the clarity or answers they need to interpret for their own care protocols going forward.
Media coverage trying to understand the complex roles and nature of medical complications, reasonable treatment, medical error as opposed to medical negligence and criminal intent to murder a patient are going to find it very difficult. Taking that information and then trying to describe to the public is going to
prove even more challenging.

We have all the bells and whistles in place in the inquest act etc but nobody wants to or can ring it or blow it.
Fraud: wrongful or criminal deception intended to result in financial or personal gain.
Murder: defined as the unlawful and intentional killing of another person.
Medical ERROR: By definition a medical error occurs when a healthcare worker FOLLOWS reasonable evidence based treatment protocols but the patient experiences a negative outcome DUE TO a failure in the delivery, processing or system(s) that was used to provide the reasonable treatment. #FollowedTheScience #SomethingWentWromg
Medical NEGLIGENCE: By definition medical negligence occurs when a healthcare worker does NOT follow reasonable evidence based treatment protocols and/or BEHAVE in a responsible manner as the healthcare worker responsible for their patient and AS A RESULT the patient experiences a negative outcome.

These poor families that have suffered loses are my main and primary concern. The bizarre process that has taken place that has lead to the premature criminalisation of the case against both the doctors concerned is or has created a defensive stance that their medico-legal lawyers will take up.
The answers and information that these grieving and angry families require to allow them to gain closure, curtail their anger and treat their grief will now be even harder to obtain purely because this is now a criminal matter rather than an inquest or medical legal mediation. #DropItAndWait #BeforeItIsTooLate

The NPA has chosen to take up the challenge to provide the answers and evidence required for these numerous families. There is a thin line between medical negligence and culpable homicide and the line between medical negligence and unavoidable medical complications is even thinner.

State calls fourth witness in Peter Beale trial

JOHANNESBURG - The State has called another doctor as its fourth witness in paediatric surgeon Peter Beale’s fraud and murder trial.
The charges against Beale stem from the deaths of three children he operated on, with the State alleging he performed “unnecessary” surgeries and acted recklessly.
His trial got underway late last month.
The State’s third witness - the mother of a 10-year-old boy who died after Beale operated on him has now wrapped up her evidence.
The court has ordered that none of the witnesses in the case or the children involved or their families can be identified. But the current witness is a paediatrician who treated a three-year-old boy whom Beale performed surgery on after he suffered complications following the surgery.
The child ultimately died, too, and Beale is accused of “unlawfully and with the intention to defraud '' misrepresenting to his parents that a biopsy had confirmed he had Hirschsprung’s Disease and required surgery when this wasn’t the case.
He’s also accused of failing to provide the necessary care when the child went into distress after surgery.
In her evidence so far, the fourth witness has spoken about how after the child’s condition began deteriorating, he was intubated by Beale.
According to this witness, the tube was “too low down” though and wound up causing internal trauma.
