Legal Trade for Rhino Survival joins the other pro-trade groups by publishing media articles such as the other included below.
They are trying to gather support and momentum prior to CITES CoP18 which will be held in Sri Lanka in May 2019.
The new narrative is that communities will benefit from trade. This is such a simplistic notition. We have to question who will finance the protection of the community owned rhino and who will pay for the “trimming” of the horn and how will the communities market their horn against the big rhino farmers.
Expect to hear a lot more from the pro-trade lobbyists as they appeal to the South African government and delegation to CoP18 to ask CITES to open international trade of rhino horn.
