Sound Barrier on 31 protecting HiddenBrook Pool & HomeOwners

The Issue

The housing boom in Horry County is visible undeniable and the growth of the area is just AWESOME.  However, with more homes being built, comes more cars, trucks, vans, motorcycles, and heavy equipment being driving on the roads and highways. The amount of road noise experienced by HiddenBrook homeowners who live along the Route 31 property line is undeniable - especially during the summer months.  The amount of road noise experienced by folks walking / running on Flowering Branch Road, nearest the big bend headed towards the HiddenBrook Community Pool has gotten out of control.  In fact, the road noise at the pool is excessive and is negatively impacting the quality of life for HB homeowners and guests. Furthermore, the noise pollution (elevated debcible levels dBs) is a serious safety issue for Moms an Dads who need to communicate with their children either swimming in the pool or playing around on the pool deck.  More specifcaly, HB homeowners and their guests should be able to have a normal conversation without yelling over the road traffic noises. The elevation of traffic noise has negatively impacted boaters on the pond; those using the dock; those using the fire pit; those using the bocce ball court(s) and those using the pool.

Federal and State noise decibels (dB) saftey levels need to be enforced.

I encourage you to consider signing the petition to demand action now from SCDOT and Horry County to address these issues
