Just 10 days ago, the city of Tacoma announced their plan to close the Lighthouse and Beacon Senior Centers. These are the only 2 senior centers in Tacoma. The city had no prior communication with the staff and clients of the 2 impacted senior centers. This late notice gives little time for citizens to weigh in and voice their concerns prior to a final vote by the Tacoma City Council. These centers provide numerous activities for our senior citizens on a daily basis. They are a safe place for the seniors to gather for classes, entertainment, general socializing and to enjoy a hot meal together. Please join us in our objection to any plan to close these centers or to cease providing senior services at the locations by signing this petition.
