The appointment of a new president for Miami Dade College will happen 15 months after a long, expensive, tumultuous search process came to a sudden halt in June 2019. A series of last-minute changes made to the job’s qualification requirements by the Board of Trustees led to a public outcry from MDC students, staff, and community leaders, prompting the Board of Trustees to start a new search process for the position.

Although the deadline to apply was October 23, some members of the Search Committee have reiterated that the committee may accept applications after the deadline should a highly qualified candidate emerge after the final slate of candidates has been decided. This caveat has raised concerns among many in the community who remain wary of the process and its outcome.
