Gabriel Mendonca started this petition to SONY and

The Last of Us: Part 2 launched recently and with it has brought accessibility for gamers to the next level. I believe gaming is a culture and more often than not is a place where people can go to escape, be thrilled, or socialize with friends and even strangers. Gaming should not only be reserved for those of us who have the full ability of our body's sensory functions. There is a gamer in all of us; deaf, blind, or otherwise limited due to means out of their control. Everyone should be able to play games comfortably and enjoy it to its full potential. From a personal stand point I have am not disabled or lacking in any sensory functions but I do have a close friend; more like a brother, who is partially blind. He has been my friend for going on 18 years. He was not always blind. In fact we used to stay up playing games like Call of Duty for hours on end like many of us would when we were kids. His life took a turn though and he lost his vision completely in one eye due to a detached retina and has about 60 percent of vision in his working eye but this varies frequently as some days his vision worsens. His life took a big adjustment period that is still ongoing til this day. You might of guessed it already but yes, he still plays video games til this day but this is where the petition comes into play. While we still play together there is no doubt that we have to avoid a vast majority of games due to lack of accessibility options that cater to blind or even deaf gamers. He admittedly told me that often times he feels discouraged to play games because he struggles to keep up or even gain any functionality with the game. After showing him the accessibility options in the Last of Us 2 he was blown away, I could see the inner gamer inside of him light up with joy. It was like we were kids again, no compromises, just having fun. Before I could even say another word he said what I was thinking, "I hope all games start doing this" . He is currently starting The Last of Us 2, a game that would typically be too fast paced and input heavy for him to even attempt to play is now something he can enjoy. With that I would like to get this petition noticed by the big 3 of video gaming, Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo. I do realize that having accessibility options in games are up to developers to incorporate them into their games but I believe that if the gaming community shows Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo that this is a new standard that should be upheld for the good of all gaming then they could really influence developers to put more time into creating more accessibility for everyone because there is a gamer in all of us!

Thank you
