Cast Elya Baskin to reprise his role as Mr. Ditkovich in the upcoming Spider-Verse film

The Issue

Mr. Ditkovich, Peter's landlord in Spider-Man 2 and 3, is a character that deserves to return in the upcoming Spider-Verse film. Despite having little over 2 minutes of screen time in both films as Mr. Ditkovich, Elya Baskin was able to capture the hearts of millions around the world and establish what many would call a "cult following." Mr. Ditkovich's wide range of facial expressions, his lovable Eastern European accent, accompanied by his ability to deliver seemingly ridiculous lines in a charismatic fashion have all contributed to his status as a staple of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man.

Mr. Ditkovich's last appearance in a Spider-Man film was in 2007, but since then he has inspired fan-edits and parodies that have accumulated tens of millions of views. Even today, there are entire YouTube channels that are centered around Baskin's character of Mr. Ditkovich that garner thousands of views daily. Not only that, but he has a community on Reddit dedicated to him, called r/MrDitkovichMemes with over 2,000 members as of 2020.   Mr. Ditkovich's incredibly quotable lines such as "Give me rent," and "You are a good woman, I am good man," can be found littered across the comment sections of any social media post having to do with Raimi's Spider-Man, regardless if Mr. Ditkovich was even mentioned.

As it becomes more and more likely that "Spider-Man Homecoming 3" starring Tom Holland, will feature a "Spider-Verse," it would be simply criminal to exclude Mr. Ditkovich from it completely. Especially considering that various side characters from other franchises including Alfred Molina and Jamie Foxx are being recast. This is why we, as Spider-Man fans, come before you today, humbled and h̶u̶m̶i̶l̶i̶a̶t̶e̶d̶ to ask for one thing. That Sony Pictures recast Elya Baskin as Mr. Ditkovich in the upcoming Spider-Verse film.
