We as parents are requesting that Somerset County Board of Education remove the School Uniform Policy. School Uniforms are costly and an added expense. When children can wear the clothing they already have. Another practical concern is parents are struggling to find them. Covid has shut down many factories that manufactured them. Uniforms limit student self-expression and can cause students to lose their identity and individualism if they are made to wear the same clothes as everyone else. How does this prepare them for the workforce and Society as a whole. Students should be able to express themselves through their choice of clothing. At a time when schools are encouraging an appreciation of diversity, enforcing standardized dress code sends a contradictory message.  Please make a stand with us and vote to help remove the SCPS Uniform Policy.
