Solve the parking problems at Radford University

Solve the parking problems at Radford University
The Issue
Students at Radford University are facing a significant challenge when it comes to parking on campus. The limited availability of parking spaces has become a persistent issue, impacting their daily routines, academic performance, and overall well-being. This situation demands immediate attention and actionable solutions to ensure that our university remains a conducive environment for learning and personal growth.
One of the primary concerns is the shortage of designated student parking spaces, which forces many students to park off-campus or in unauthorized areas, risking fines or even towing. Furthermore, the university has removed it's parking meters and replaced them with the AMP app. This app costs ~$3 more per hour and has a minimum time requirement of 1 hour. The parking meters were $1 for 1 hour. One quarter for 15 minutes. Students pay $270 for parking passes, and $40-$70 per ticket for parking in an unauthorized lot. So often student lots have no room while factulty/staff lots have plenty of empty spots that could be used. Students with disabilities have reported that it is a struggle to find available handicap spots, and that lots are often difficult to use on a daily basis with mobility issues.
Statistics from similar university settings indicate that when ample parking is provided, student satisfaction and attendance rates significantly improve. As an institution dedicated to its students' success, Radford University must address this concern by re-evaluating parking facilities to optimize them, expanding existing parking facilities or investing in the construction of new parking solutions.
We urge Radford University's administration to prioritize this issue and work towards a long-term solution that accommodates the growing student population. By signing this petition, you are advocating for an enhanced campus experience that supports our academic goals and ensures the well-being of all students. Let's make Radford University a better place for everyone. Please sign and share this petition with your fellow students.
