The Issue

Climate change is real and its effects are growing more severe. The number one cause of global warming is the burning of fossil fuels, and most RPS schools are powered by fossil fuel-generated electricity. The transition to clean energy such as wind and solar is vital to our future.

The Solution

Solarize RPS! 

As students and staff of Richmond Public Schools, we call on Superintendent Jason Kamras and the Richmond Public School (RPS) Board to improve energy efficiency, upgrade roofs as necessary, and solarize 50% of RPS schools by December 2026. We further call on RPS to leverage all available federal funding and establish a strategic plan to solarize 100% of its schools no later than 2030.
