The Issue

Here is my petition.  Video of me with CC.

Please share and post it to your family and friends...Here is my petition.  It's nearly impossible for deaf individuals to find attorneys willing to cover the cost of American Sign Language interpreters! This basic communication need should be guaranteed under ADA law, but legal barriers are keeping our deaf neighbors from accessing equal representation and services.

Christina Knowlton has been fighting this issue and in just 2 days that already gathered over 215 signatures on the petition papers before taking her petition online. She's created an ASL video with closed captioning.

The deaf community, CODA families, and hearing allies are all supporting this push for full accessibility and transparency. Language barriers in legal settings aren't just inconvenient - they deny people their fundamental rights.

Has anyone else noticed how hard it can be for deaf community members to get the same access to services the rest of us take for granted? What would you want if this was your family trying to navigate the legal system?

My goal is to address these issues with the legislature and Congress through new policies, and I’m actively working with them to move the process forward. So, it would be better future than today!

Members of the deaf community, CODA (Children of Deaf Adults), and hearing allies have endorsed my case with a petition.

Thank you,
