Remove the 2020 Snapchat "Actionbar" update

Remove the 2020 Snapchat "Actionbar" update
The Issue
Snapchat has rolled-out a major design/layout change to their app and it's reaching more and more users daily. Truth is, very few people like it. It makes the app look GENERIC and POORLY DESIGNED.
Sign THIS Petition if you AGREE. LETS BRING BACK THE OLD SNAPCHAT... OR AT LEAST A BETTER VERSION!
TIMELINE:
EARLY 2020... Snap INC releases versions of Snapchat with a distinct look for some users.
September 2020... Massive Rollout to iOS users
From what I’ve heard, snapchat is doing this to unify the Android and iOS apps, which is terrible! You’ll find that the update behaves as crapily as an android phone for sure!
Also, here’s how the update works...
Basically, Snapchat has two versions packed inside (since feb 2020) and your account is assigned a version to display to you. A relaunch of the app (force-quit and reopen) will refresh the UI and if your account received the update it will then display it. over the year, they’ve enabled the update for more and more accounts (newer ones first, from what i’ve observed). So unless your still running a relase of snapchat from January 2020 or earlier, your not able to avoid this one! You may be surprised to hear that this isn’t just how the “actionbar” update works, they do this with various other changes, to list a few, Friends List UI, My Profile UI, My Bitmoji (map), Shortcuts, Friendship Profile UI, Feed UI (ex: changes 21s to 21 sec. Bitmoji Style), Play audio during snap (like tiktok), Swiping up/down on discover/watch snaps (also like tiktok), Public Profiles for non-verified users, etc!
Look, i understand. it may be more intuitive for some people who don’t use snap very often because navigating the features previously took some (admittedly, rather easy) learning.
But for those who’ve used snap a lot before. this update is pure trash for most of us. the well designed animations and 5-card design of the old UI just was so human friendly. everything was predictable and looked great!
Here’s a list of other issues I have with the update, these are MY opinion so don’t go off at me in the comments PLEASE...
- Less Interesting Design overall
Snaps are way smaller on bigger devices by default with no way to change it
The chats page is now cramped and not made for muscle-memory swipes - The design is generic and looks practically like any other app
Animations are too quirky and choppy
The dynamic aspect of the action bar is confusing (ex: while using lens carousel) - The SnapMap is opened way to frequently when swiping into chats which wastes time and causes frustration especially with a long feed you may need to scroll through again after accidentally going into the map
- on most phones, text is abbreviated because the “chat” button is displayed on the right to discourage users to swipe into chats
The app feels like it’s focusing too much on community/media company content with the “watch” page - Snapchat seems to be putting stories ahead of the actual conversations in the app and they want you to share public stories instead of chat with the changes implemented.
- No option to opt in or out despite both versions being baked into the app
- No update information on what’s new, users are just thrown into the new UI with no explanation
- Snapchat Support won’t give you back the old version even if you ask, despite it being under their control since the old version of the app is sitting on everyone’s phones anyways!
Y'all do your thing. This is OUR app, they shouldn't destroy it and get away with it!!
