Take back the decision to make so much seats in M.Tech in IIT Roorkee as self sponsored

The Issue

  • Recently IIT Roorkee has decided to make more than half of the seats in M.tech as self sponsored which means you will have to pay 1 lakh plus per semester with no provision of stipend.
  • Students in India join M.Tech in IIT with a fervor for research, leaving job opportunities after their B.Tech. In the present scenario for the seats that are self sponsored, only those who are below par in terms of GATE Rank will opt to pay such a high fees with no stipend just to get an IIT tag and level of our IIT would plummet down to unimaginable nether levels.
  • Anyone rich with low GATE Rank could buy a seat in IIT now. We want this injudicious decision reverted right now. We cannot protest on streets because IIT Roorkee is well known for its own disciplinary action and still we ask for freedom for the deserving people to come to IIT irrespective of their economic background.
