Wednesday 3-8-2017 9:08 p.m. Eastern Time Greetings Panda Lovers! We have now surpassed 300 signatures on this petition! The momentum is amazing & I want to thank each & every one of you who has taken the time to sign & to share with your family & friends. Here is the latest news: - This evening I contacted several media outlets to make sure they know about the petition. I also contacted The National Zoo over several different channels to make sure that they are aware of the petition. I advised them that we look forward to hearing from them on this issue. Other supporters have kindly contacted the media as well, including Chinese community networks. - I established an e-mail address to be used for correspondence, and for those who may not have access to Facebook and/or Twitter. The e-mail address is reunitepandas@hotmail.com I encourage the media, press & supporters to contact me on this e-mail address. - I have been made aware of this video on YouTube https://youtu.be/QJ9InxTGFG8 in which keeper Marty Dearie speaks about the separation of female pandas vs. male pandas. He starts talking about this at the timestamp of 2:15 in the video. He says that males typically separate at 22-24 months of age from their mothers. So why The National Zoo is not following this protocol, we do not know. Mr. Dearie is a highly respected keeper & we think that the zoo should listen to & respect what he says. - A supporter named Jeff advised the petition (in the comments) that he visited the zoo today & that Mei Xiang is continuing to vocalize & that her behavior distressed him & his wife. The fact that this poor panda is still in this state over a week later speaks volumes as to how much the zoo needs to act. How much longer can Mei Xiang be put under this type of stress? - Lastly, we are united in our resolve to show the zoo our thoughts & how much we care for the welfare of these pandas. Ultimately, it is their decision as to whether they will reunite these pandas. But they MUST know that there are literally hundreds of us who are upset & dismayed as to their actions. Please continue to share with your friends & family! Sincerely, J.J. Medusa Washington, D.C., U.S.A.
