Kari DeGraff started this petition to Small Business Administration

A lawsuit claiming that the head-start application period for minorities regarding the SBA Rapid Relief Fund was unjust was recently approved. The result was millions of dollars being reallocated from veterans, women, and other minorities to the more privileged who own entire chains of restaurants.

Businesses that are competing for millions of dollars vs thousands to hundreds of thousands should not be competing for the same grants.

The Division Chief of the Office of Size Standards needs to rewrite the definition of a small business. The current definition of a small business is one that has fewer than 1,500 employees and a maximum of $38.5 million in average annual receipts.

Yet small businesses with fewer than 20 employees make up 89.6% of all U.S. business enterprises and 23 million businesses in the United States actually have no employees at all—meaning there’s only an owner going about business by themselves.

We must rewrite the regulation to support entrepreneurs, creators, and local business owners, not multi-state establishments generating millions in sales. Help support me and other local business owners in being the change we wish to see.
