Slow Drains, Fast Floods—Drainage Action for Centennial II, Barangay Pinagbuhatan

Slow Drains, Fast Floods—Drainage Action for Centennial II, Barangay Pinagbuhatan
The Issue
Flooding in the Philippines whenever there are heavy rains or typhoons has long remained a problem—but to this neighborhood in Pasig City, even light rains has become their concern. In Centennial II Barangay Pinagbuhatan, people have long been enduring the inconvenience and risk from the immediate flooding in their area that clears up gradually. Barangay Pinagbuhatan in Pasig City is the most populated barangay in the city and this issue is just one of the major problems they experience.
Residents state that the slow subsiding of floodwaters is because of the:
- Clogged drainages in the area, which is caused by the dumping and blockage of drainage channels by people who are claiming the plot of land.
- Improper waste management of the residents that also clogs the drainages.

PROPOSED SOLUTION:
