Some you may have recently seen an article in SLO county by ksby stating that a dog had been found with duct tape over its mouth, ears and above it's eyes, with a dead bird taped to it's neck. The article link is above. This article states (on 2/19/2020 at 11:30am - because it's already been updated at 8:57 pm to look a little better)

"Animal Services Manager Dr. Eric Anderson says it appears the owner was frustrated with the dog for killing some livestock and the tape was used as a form of disciplinary action.

Anderson says it doesn't appear the owner was trying to injure or torture the dog, but adds that the investigation is ongoing to determine what, if any, charges will be filed in the case."

Every single response I have seen to this is negative..we are all outraged that a man in charge of protecting animals believes this is standard and acceptable "punishment". This is clear cut animal abuse and this man's judgement is not sound. He should be removed for the safety of all future abused animals, as he clearly has zero compassion or understanding of what abuse to animals Is. Please to feel free to comment any negative personal experiences with him/animal services below as I have already heard a few on social media comments.

WOULD HE ALLOW THIS to be done to a child as punishment? I don't think so. How would this not injure the dog? Airways and ability to defend itself have been blocked..when the tape is removed and his fur is pulled out of these sensitive areas, will he be ok? Dr Eric Anderson, can we put tape over your mouth, head and facial hair, around your neck with a dead animal.. that would be "not harmful" to you? Seems humane? Again, none of us agree with this.

Please help spread the public outcry to remove this uncaring, uncompassionate excuse for a human being from a position with such power, over which animals get to suffer and which get to be saved.

Furthermore, animal cruelty has recently been made a FEDERAL CRIME not just in Ca. The owner needs to be severely disciplined by the law as well. We the people of SLO county will not stand by and watch evil men take positions of power and allow furry friends to be tortured and absused.
