Hello, this is Michael Rammel, an owner of a Skill Gaming location in Culpeper, Virginia. With our inception, we chose to be a fully transparent operation knowing a ruling like this most recent one from the state of Virginia COULD potentially occur. We knew being transparent would mean open books and doing all the things ‘right’. (Something that may or may not have been happening elsewhere)
So here’s what we did to ensure that:
-Armed security on staff for protection of all our patrons.
-Employ high end casino management software which ensures fair gaming on all machines. This software also houses ALL data for all machines so taxes and income can be fully accounted for and paid exactly according to law.
-Implement self-exclusion compliance to help prevent gambling addiction and protect our community.

Here’s how you can help!! We need signatures showing our small business is worth it!

Ideally, I would love the opportunity to sit down with our state representatives and ask how, in a state that allows for legal online slots machines through the VA lottery, sportsbetting, and full-fledged casinos, do skill machines impact our community in a negative manner that justifies a full ban and restriction prior to the general assembly even meeting about this topic? This decision to jump in front of our representatives discussion will shut our business down for 2-2.5 months before any help can occur.
Our staff is paid very well, with full benefits and retirement options in a sector where they would not otherwise have been offered those benefits.

All legitimate businesses are happy to be regulated and taxed fairly. Banning our small business from operating while also opening/allowing large corporate casinos in the same month is very much hypocritical OR, at a minimum, catering to national corporations instead of the small businesses of your constituents. Which is it?
