1. Vote No on the JH Planned Development Plan Amendment 2. Require adherence to the JH Ranch 1993 Permits.

The Issue

This proposed development is prohibited by the "Scott Valley Area Plan".  The development area is located in a "Critical Deer Wintering" area.  JH Ranch has a history of not complying with existing permits (see Grand Jury Report/2007). Traffic generated by existing guest allowance causes dangerous and noisy situations for local residents.  Noise from their facility can be heard up to 4 miles away.  The Development Amendment would add an additional 123 acres into commercial zoning, (current commercial zoning is 79 acres.  That would bring the commercial zoning to 202 acres).  The Development would allow up to 1,600 guests at any given time.  Belief that "French Creek" can not support the Development without taking from existing needs to local residents and the Valley.  Their economic contribution to Siskiyou County and Scott Valley is minimal.  They are non-profit.  They do not pay property, income or transit occupancy tax.  Most employees are hired from non-valley locations.  Most purchased food sources are from out of the valley.  French Creek is a home to Coho Salmon spawning.  This petition is generated by the "Friends of French Creek" defending the "Scott Valley Area Plan".  Maintaining our land, wilderness and rural lifestyles.
