In court, Liew pled guilty to seven charges.
Four charges were for failing in her duty to care for the dogs.
One charge was for obstructing the course of justice by disposing of Prince's carcass, another was for operating PDC as an unregistered business, and the last charge was for providing false information when registering PDC.
Sadly, Liew was sentenced to 2 weeks' jail & fined S$35,700. The maximum sentence for the abuse of animals is 2 years jail, $40,000 fine or both. For multiple charges, Liew got a hefty fine but a short jail term. Is this fair? Compared to the anguish caused to the owners who lost their beloved pet because of her neglience and abuse.
Money should not be the answer to crimes, just because she got a big fine does not mean she just her just rewards. We appeal for a heavier jail sentence as deterent that Singaporeans do not condone animal abuse!
