Angie Chan started this petition to Singapore Government

In light of the recent announcement that schools will reopen, the Government has been actively testing pre-school staff to detect any Covid-19 carriers. Since then, three pre-school staff were confirmed local cases as of Thursday, 21 May 2020. It projects a clear image - asymptomatic cases exist within our community.

However, not all school staff are slated for testing. The fact is that primary, secondary, pre-u and tertiary school staff remain unchecked. And with tens of thousands of students scheduled to return to school on 2 June, the potential dangers of staff-student transmission continue to weigh on myself as well as countless parents.

As evidenced by the aforementioned three cases, untested school staff threatens to destabilise the normalising situation in Singapore.  Had not it been for the tests, the three staff might have been in contact with healthy pre-schoolers and staff. Transmission of the virus would be all but confirmed. As a parent, I am deeply concerned about the health of my children. How can I send my children to school, knowing that the school staff have not been tested negative? How can we have a peace of mind, knowing that asymptomatic transmission may run unchecked? How can the society recover if the Government continues to pursue one sided policies like this? Complete testing of all returning school staff must take place if we are to put a stop to this crisis.
