This petition arises out of the new regulations affecting the endorsement of nursing licenses in the state of Florida. Specifically, we contest the requirement of three years of experience before being able to endorse a license from another state, and an English proficiency exam for those who graduated from educational programs in Puerto Rico. This is creating unnecessary barriers for many capable nurses who are ready and able to contribute to the healthcare system. Given the critical need for healthcare professionals, our objective is to promote accessible endorsement regulations. According to data from the Florida Center for Nursing, as of 2019, there is an estimated nursing shortage of 59,100 vacancies in Florida. It heightens the urgency to facilitate the endorsement process rather than complicate it. We call upon the relevant regulatory bodies to reconsider these requirements, in pursuit of a more inclusive and efficient healthcare system.
