For over 20 years, Simon & Schuster has granted HeR Interactive the exclusive right to develop computer games based on the beloved Nancy Drew book series, and until 2015 HeR Interactive used that license to create a series of Nancy Drew games that have become beloved in their own right to a dedicated community of fans.

Since 2015 however, HeR Interactive has devolved into a pathologically dishonest and fraudulent shadow of its former self. For the last four years, they have essentially pretended to develop a video game, repeatedly lying about its progress as they slashed and outsourced their workforce, pursued failed new initiatives under new CEO Penny Milliken, and ran on the fumes of dwindling sales of their existing games.

They are actively devaluing the Nancy Drew intellectual property for video games (even as it thrives in other media, such as film and television), and at this point Simon & Schuster should step in and revoke the license as soon as possible—in service of the fan community and their own business interests.

Simon & Schuster has a golden opportunity to grant the license to a reputable game developer that has a track record of delivering projects and has not been subject to the staggering mismanagement and incompetence that plagues HeR Interactive. And we, the long-suffering fans of the Nancy Drew game series, implore them to use that opportunity.

Disclaimer, I have no idea what legal/contract issues are actually involved here, but it just feels like Simon & Schuster are the only ones who can put an end to this charade.
