REMOVE CYCLE TRACKS FROM YONGE STREET

REMOVE CYCLE TRACKS FROM YONGE STREET
UPDATE - JANUARY 2023 -
In January 2023 there is an Infrastructure & Environment (IEC) committee meeting which will recommend whether or not to keep the grossly underutilized bike lanes on Yonge Street in midtown Toronto.
This problematic installation does not 'keep Toronto moving' a claim that Mayor Tory says is one his missions. In fact the delays to emergency vehicles and increased time through the corridor has increased dramatically.
Make your voice known NOW - circulate this petition and sign it. Move these lanes to another throughfare that is more suited for cyclng traffic such as Avenue Rd.
Our corridor has 28 developments with 10,000 proposed new residences slated to break ground over the next few years. Construction vehicles will be everywhere. Yonge Street will come to a halt.
Toronto Fire & EMS services won't have a fighting chance to save lives and property.
Please make your voice known and speak out against the disruption and dangers that these cycle tracks have created.
The 16 land-locked streets continue to suffer the brunt of delays, congestion, dangerous turning radii and blind access to the neighbourhood, while the lanes go virtually unused - 3 seasons a year.
We love CAFETO on Yonge, and we like cycling networks, but the combination can be lethal on a main street with less than 20 M right-of-way.
