Denver Residents Demand Answers from City Council

Denver Residents Demand Answers from City Council
The Issue
Denver residents deserve the FULL story!
City & County of Denver: In regards to the proposed legislation that would require registration, licensing and **inspection** of long-term rentals, Denver residents, are asking Council President Stacie Gilmore and the other City Council Members to provide answers to the following questions:
- What are the quantifiable objectives?
- How are you planning to measure it? What metrics? What is the current data and what are the goals?
- How much will it cost the City & County of Denver taxpayers?
Denver and Colorado already offer the following tenant resources...
Colorado Warranty of Habitability
Residential Landlord Tenant Guide
We propose more awareness around the expectations laid out in the above resources. We believe empowering tenants with the information/ resources and enforcing requirments is a simpler, more time efficient and cost effective way to improve rental conditions.
Additionally, a Colorado Open Records Request was filed for the following departments, to understand from these departments what this proposal will cost their department, including by not limited to staffing estimates, and any additional systems, training, etc. What do these cost look like each year, from 1-5 years.
- Community Planning & Development
- Department of Housing Stability
- Department of Excise and Licenses
- Public Health & Environment
Denver residents deserve to understand what City Council is *actually* proposing, the measurable metrics and associated goals, and the short term costs for Denver residents (from set up to year 5 of the program up and running)
Full proposal can be found here.
