Last Saturday, 5 November, the Turkish government released four of the 13 arrested Cumhuriyet journalists/employees, but nine of their colleagues remain in prison, including editor-in-chief Murat Sabuncu and columnist and IPI Executive Board Member Kadri Gürsel. All of the juornalists have been sent to Istanbul’s Silivri Prison, with limited contact with their families and lawyers. IPI and other international press freedom organisations are keeping the pressure on the government in Turkey and continue to campaign for the release of Cumhuriyet and other Turkey journalists. Today our #FreeTurkeyJournalists petition has reached 3,000 supporters! And we will continue until we reach 5,000! Please help us reach our goal and share the petition with all your contacts. We must keep the pressure on the Turkish government! Do not give up. We won’t! Once again, thank you for your support The IPI Team P.S.
