Sign the Petition: Oppose the Homeless Shelter In Rego Park

The Issue

Dear Neighbors ,

We , the undersigned residents, parents, homeowners, and business owners of Rego Park, we are deeply concerned about the decision to convert the Wyndham Hotel on 61-18 93rd Street into a homeless shelter for single adult males. Our opposition is not against helping those in need but stems from our concern for the safety and well-being of our community. The location of this proposed shelter is alarmingly close to schools, daycares, residences, businesses and malls.

The Department of Social Services' decision was made with surprising speed and without adequate communication or consultation with Community or local residents.

We understand that New York City faces a significant homelessness crisis -However solutions must be developed with community input to ensure they are sustainable and considerate of all stakeholders involved.

We urge the board members to reconsider their approach towards addressing homelessness in our city by involving communities like ours more closely in these critical decisions.

Please join us in solidarity by signing this petition, expressing our collective objection to the establishment of the homeless shelter .  Your signature will make a powerful statement, amplifying our shared concerns and sending a clear message to those making decisions about our community's future.

We trust that, with your support, our collective voice will be heard, and we can actively work towards ensuring the safety and prosperity of our beloved Rego Park.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
