Florida is about to head down Arizona’s failed path. We have to fight back. Our state representatives want to make Florida the new Arizona. Bills pending in the legislature right now would turn Florida into a “show me your papers” state, encourage police to engage in racial profiling, take police resources out of our communities and turn them into immigration agents, and force the costly and ineffective E-Verify on Florida businesses.
These approaches aren’t working in Arizona and are costing the state millions in lost revenue, lawsuits, and bad publicity. Florida is already deep in debt, and we can’t afford these failed approaches. Florida needs real solutions to combat our $3 billion debt, not more stress on our already overburdened system.
On Monday April 4th, the Senate Judiciary Committee will be voting on SB 2040, one of many Arizona copycat bills.
Tell the state Senate we can’t afford their anti-immigrant bills. It’s time for Florida’s elected officials to show real leadership on this issue, not to fall back on tired and failed approaches
