Sign The Agreement with H2GO - Get RO filtered water for Brunswick Forest in 2021

Sign The Agreement with H2GO - Get RO filtered water for Brunswick Forest in 2021
The Issue
Good news! The Town of Leland is considering joining H2GO's water system. Now is your chance to support the proposed agreement for Leland and H2GO to consolidate their water and wastewater systems and their utility funds to “gain efficiencies in operations, enhance sustainability, reduce redundancies and overlaps, and improve customer service.”
Why should I sign this petition?
1. Brunswick Forest would get water from H2GO. H2G0 will supply aquifer-sourced water. Brunswick Forest water is currently supplied by Brunswick County Public Utilities (BCPU). BCPU supplies water from the Cape Fear River.
2. H2GO will supply RO filtered water by the end of 2021. BCPU won’t have their plant online until May 2022.
3. BCPU is planning rate increases for 2022 -The wholesale customers – a mix of mainly residential and commercial – would see their rates increase from $2.89 per 1,000 gallons to $5.25, a difference of $2.36. Plus, the base monthly service charge would increase by $4 per month for all meter sizes. The agreement between Leland and H2GO will keep rates lower due to economies of scale.
A public hearing on the proposed joint ownership and operation of the water distribution and wastewater collection systems will be held at the Mar. 18 Leland Town Council meeting at 6 p.m. at the Leland Town Hall.
