There's a dirty little secret in Las Vegas.  Siegfried and Roy, the former MGM Mirage entertainers, are slumlords (their tenants live in squalor).   Annee Nounna, the Vegas socialite, is a co-owner.  Their apartment buildings (a/k/a "Ali Baba Apts") next to the Rebel Oil station and behind the MGM Grand at Tropicana and Koval (4828/4838/4846 Koval and 4837 Deckow) have been at the center of drug dealing, prostitution and violent vagrant mischief in the neighborhood for decades.  They purposefully removed their business signs years ago to conceal their ownership from authorities and the media. Also, the buildings are in serious disrepair (some apartments have dirt floors, leaky ceilings, exposed wiring, cracked sewer lines, bed bugs, etc.) and there is police action at the complex at least 100 times every year (Koval & Deckow buildings combined) not to mention CCFD action for occasional dumpster fires (one building burned completely in 2015 and another partially in 2007--both drug related).  This was also the scene of the SWAT Standoff in September 2017 where two armed criminals holed up at Ali Baba Apts and Metro had to shut down Koval Lane for 6 hours! 

This complex covers just 0.9 acres and has just 40 apartment units but accounts for 80% of the police calls in the neighborhood!  Let's do the right thing and clean up this criminal-infested slum or have the County condemn them.  Remember, this is an election year (November 2018).  Let's vote in the candidate who cares the most about quality of life issues and property values.  We don't need any more commissioners who think forwarding your email to the LVMPD is the answer.  That's just a brush off.

There was a 2007 meth-lab-related explosion/fire in 2007 at Ali Baba Apts but it didn't make the local news (or the link has been taken down by the TV station).

Mike Thorene, a vagrant who camps at Ali Baba Apts (and buys meth from dealers like Ritchie "The Filipino" there), almost beat an elderly man to death at Ali Baba in 2012.  Thorene only spent a few years in prison.  There was no news story (or the link has been taken down by the TV station).

There was a CMART (County Multiple Area Response Team) action initiated by SNHD against Ali Baba Apts in 2010 but it didn't make the local news.  It was also incomplete in that only the Deckow property was raided and fined, not the Koval properties which are in even worse shape.
