Our issue is that there is no sidewalk going all the way over to the MAC. A person could walk safely around town, but as they get to the road near the MAC they end up on the side of the road without a sidewalk while cars are coming off the highway at a accelerated speed and could easily hit people biking or walking to the MAC. This creates a very danger situation while someone is just trying to get to the MAC to have a nice swim at the pool on a hot summer day or workout at the gym.  Studies show that walking somewhere without a sidewalk doubles-triples the likely hood of being hit by a car. Around 1400 cyclists have been hit and injured by car per year in Massachusetts, 7 of those cyclists being killed.

What would fix this issue is a Manchester expanding the sidewalk on School St from the start of Kit Glass Drive all the way down to the start of Atwater Ave, and continue it down Atwater Ave to the MAC. This whole sidewalk would be around 9,200 square feet if it is a standard, 4 foot wide sidewalk. In Massachusetts building a sidewalk costs around $10 per square foot, that would make this project around $92,000 depending on how much ground has to be cleared for the sidewalk (likely not any clearing needed).
