Have you or someone you know adopted a dog or cat from wags and whiskers in chico, a pet "rescue", and suddenly after adoption the dog or cat became incredibly sick- either with parvo, kennel cough, pneumonia, mites, infections, coronavirus, and so on? public complaints about wags and whiskersUnfortunately, I chose to believe that Wags and Whiskers operated ethically and with safe kenneling conditions that protected their dogs safety and health. I was wrong. A few weeks ago, I adopted a 2 month old chihuahua, named Prince, who is the most loving and sweet boy that brings a smile to every ones face. On the day of adoption, I payed $500 for him and when I was able to pick him up, they nonchalantly handed me a contract stating that I would take full financial and moral responsibility if he "happened to develop kennel cough" after leaving the facility.  The next day, Prince woke up coughing and choking. Immediately due to the severity of this young, 5-pound puppies condition,  I rushed him to Chico VCA emergency clinic. I had to pay for a 400 dollar pneumonia x ray and receive medication and treatment for kennel cough for another $200, not to mention appointment costs to see the emergency vet- the staff at this clinic told me herself personally that she has three puppies alone that week who were recently adopted from Wags and Whiskers that had tragically passed away from kennel cough turned into pneumonia. This is a documented a well known issue by both animal control and every local vet clinic who has to watch and care for suffering pets and worried pet owners who believe they are buying a dog in relatively good health (as you receive paperwork from their adding vet clinic stating that is the case). Unfortunately, what I have learned through many vet techs locally is that Wags and Whisker chooses to get as many puppies and dogs and possible, placing 3-4 in a crate at a time, many of whom are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated. This sanitation issue has already been discussed with on local news years ago and the owner refused to take ethical and financial responsibility for the damage she has caused, the manipulation she has done towards good people wanting to rescue a dog, as well as all the dogs that have suffered unnecessarily and many who unfortunately pass away due to her practices. The owner herself offered to reimburse for me for $70 of antibiotic fees and nothing more. This is clearly the behavior of someone who is not genuinely interested in giving rescues healthy and happy homes.
       Please consider signing this petition to shut down Wags and Whiskers. Any pet lover understands that this is not a "rescue" facility that cares about rehoming dogs and cats and giving them shelter and loving homes. Rather, they are a business that charge $250-500 per dog and exploit the health of their animals in order to maximize profit and have a high rate of adoptions. I am currently about 4,000 in debt from unexpected vet costs that are continuing and growing as my baby prince turned out the have 4 illnesses (which the owner insisted were unrelated to her unsanitary practices and failure to provide him with vaccines): kennel cough, pneumonia, lime disease, and coronavirus. He is slowly beginning to recover after a traumatic 3 weeks of missing work, tears, and unnecessary suffering. These vet bills are ongoing, as I also just found out at other vet clinic he now has mites. Irregardless of money and donations, please share and sign this petition and share this information so we can shut down Wags and Whiskers and end this depraved and abusive situations for innocent animals in our community. Wags and Whiskers has somehow remained in business, continuing to put dogs and cats and puppies at risk, letting them suffer and die. The owner is non-receptive and extremely defensive and manipulative with her communication tactics, which tells me she has become very skilled at denying responsibility for adoptees who are confused and scared for their pets. 
     I attached pictures via a link of other adoptees similar struggle on google reviews. I also listed other institutions who have made claims against this facility. Please feel free to look at these as a source of credibility for my claims. I truly hope something can be done to end this toxic and abusive cycle being perpetuated by Wags and Whiskers, Chico.
