Shut Down North Hill Farms Apartments In Pontiac

The Issue

North Hill Farms boasts online about being a safe, subsidized (government funded), and beautiful community in located in Pontiac, Michigan.

As a former resident, I can assure you that this is not the case.

The entire neighborhood is not only infested with cockroaches, but they actively lie to new residents who are concerned with google reviews, by assuring them that that was “old management” and that since being under new management, they have fixed the problem. Not only is the entire neighborhood infested with cockroaches, but the individual units are not in control of their own heat and so even during the winter, the units can be well over 90 degrees Fahrenheit inside the dwelling, which of course increases the cockroach breeding and population. North Hill Farms only sprays for cockroaches in units selected for Annual Funding Reviews an hour or so before inspection to get them to scatter, in order to pass inspection, knowing full well the residents will be back to living in bug paradise within a few hours.

The residents for the most part (formerly myself included) are unaware of their rights and raise children in these apartments not knowing that because North Hill Farms is mostly government funded, that the state (if notified of the problem, which they have been through me all the way up to the governor herself) must relocate the tenants into safe housing if the neighborhood is shut down and/or condemned. I have created this petition to help things along and will be providing this petition to the current residents themselves because even though I have moved away (as of the time writing this it has only been 9 days since I moved out) I still care and worry about the residents still living in such conditions as the conditions hospitalized me several times for infections and seizures (I’m epileptic)

I implore you to sign this petition and share it as much as possible, because even though this is a local issue, hundreds of lives are involved, including the health and safety of the elderly and young children who should not be forced to live in this situation just because they or their parents cannot afford to pay market rent (at North Hill Farms you only pay 30% of your monthly income)

Thank you for your time, and for proof of this situation, please check out the links to my blog posts below, as I documented as frequently as I could before I knew that the state was ultimately responsible for relocation.

I also want to print out 525 of the petition mail-ins that I have created using my online petition and a PDF editor, put them in envelopes with other pre-stamped envelopes addressed to Governor Whitmer. I figure because if the cost is covered, most residents of the minimum of 525 are going to fill them out and mail them, but even if only 10% of them do, that’s still 100 letters Governor Whitmer gets mail about regarding a single government funded complex in Michigan and then hopefully something will get done. I am fully prepared (even though I’m on social security myself and am in a wheelchair) to purchase everything on this list by myself, but I would love some help for this worthy cause! I want to see everyone relocated out of there, especially because there are children and elderly there too!
