The Issue

I am a resident of Samaypur Village in Delhi, India. I call my home a village, but over the past few years, it has transformed into an industrial hub that has turned our lives into a daily fight for fresh air and peace. Numerous illegal factories operate in our residential areas, specifically in Gali No. 7, 11, and 12, with the most egregious offender sitting at House No. 219, Gali No. 7.

Day after day these factories belch out thick clouds of toxic black smoke, and every night we struggle to sleep through the relentless noise pollution. This is not only a gross violation of our rights as residents but also a major health hazard. Our pleas seem to have fallen on deaf ears, with over 500 complaints filed yet no action taken.

I understand that these factories provide employment and contribute to the economy, but that does not excuse the health risks they pose to us and the environmental damage they cause. The need of the hour is sustainable development, industries that don't compromise the health and well-being of the people who live nearby. In a 2014 World Health Organisation report, India had 13 of the world's 20 most polluted cities; this is a problem that is not going away.

The concerned authorities must take immediate action to shut down these illegal factories and enforce strict regulations on industries operating within residential areas. The factories should be relocated to designated industrial areas following environmental standards to ensure the health and safety of people and the environment are not compromised. We owe this not just to ourselves, but future generations as well.

Please stand with me, and the other residents of Samaypur Village, in demanding our right to clean air and peaceful living conditions. By signing this petition, you're not just supporting us, but also advocating for people all across India facing similar situations. Your signature can help end this cycle of environmental negligence.
