The Issue

In a time when respect, empathy, and sensitivity are most needed, a Facebook page tarnishes the reputation of our deceased family members, promoting hearsay rather than facts. This blatant disregard for our families' grief and feelings is both hurtful and unjust. I've witnessed first-hand the distress this has caused, as family members and friends have repeatedly reached out, pleading for the removal of damaging content, only to be met with silence.

Despite numerous requests and reports to Facebook about this page that stands in violation of their community standards, no action has been taken. It appears indifferent to the emotional turmoil and heartache experienced by all involved, allowing negativity and misinformation to flourish, instead of upholding its own standards of respect and integrity. Such insensitivity should not be tolerated.

Losing a loved one is one of life’s most painful experiences, and it is exacerbated when malicious content overshadows precious memories. The bonds we share with our departed remain cherished, sacred, and deserving of respect. Defaming our loved ones during such a vulnerable time is an inexcusable act that Facebook has a moral obligation to address.

We call on Facebook to uphold its commitment to creating a safe and respectful environment online by shutting down this hurtful page. It is imperative that they actively protect grieving families from unwarranted distress. This is not just a matter of protecting our loved ones' legacies, but also about ensuring that social media platforms foster a nurturing and supportive space for all users.

By signing this petition, we urge Facebook to take immediate and decisive action in removing this page and promise to make their platform a haven of support, compassion, and truth.

Please add your signature to demand that Facebook does what is right. Together, we can end the spread of harmful and unfounded content that affects countless grieving families.
