Shut Down Change.org

The Issue

I've tried using Change.org with the hope that it would be a trustworthy platform for advocating for change and reform. But when I make petitions of my own, even when they're about trending topics, they get ignored and swept under the rug. I've signed hundreds of petitions, but I never hear a word about whether any of them have achieved a victory.

Change.org flaunts itself as a tool for bringing communities together and influencing decision-makers. But the lack of tangible outcomes from countless well-intentioned petitions, as well as the overall uselessness of this website, is frustrating to me. I've tried to help bring attention to certain subjects, such as a social media account profiting from animal cruelty and exploitation, the sexual abuse and trafficking of children, holding a murderer accountable, and fighting to prevent easily accessible healthcare services from being limited or taken away. What do I get? Silence. Crickets. Not a single view or signature other than my own.

Without a robust system for promoting urgent causes or honoring strategic partnerships with influential stakeholders, Change.org has failed to fulfill its promise. It is pretty much useless at this point. We don't gain anything substantial from using this website. It's an absolute joke.

By shutting down Change.org, we do not lose anything meaningful. Instead, we can create space for alternative platforms that genuinely commit to social justice and reform. Social justice organizations that are genuinely dedicated to change will rise to the occasion, but this requires acknowledging the current system's faults and making the decision to start over. Change is essential, and it is only by breaking away from ineffective platforms like this one that we can pursue genuine progress.

Please sign this petition if you care about making actual progress and change in the world, not just by scrolling on this website and "signing" petitions with a click of the button.
