Shorten the bus stop on Maverick Street

Shorten the bus stop on Maverick Street
The Issue
Living in a neighborhood where parking is limited, I've often faced days where finding a parking spot feels like winning a small lottery. This struggle is shared by many of my fellow residents on Maverick Street, located between Ardee Street and Aramon Street. The stretch that has seen much discussion is the bus stop that currently occupies a significant portion of this street, taking up 8 parking spaces.
This bus stop, which serves an isolated route, often goes underutilized, leaving much of its space unused while neighborhood cars circle around looking for a place to park. By reducing the bus stop to a mere 2 parking spaces, we could effectively gain 6 valuable parking spots for local residents. This change would not only relieve parking stress but would also foster a more accessible, resident-friendly environment.
Statistics from the local transit authority show that bus stops which support fewer routes and lower passenger frequencies contribute less to local commuter traffic. In fact, the current size of this stop could be better utilized for resident parking, where demand constantly outstrips supply. A recent survey of neighborhood residents revealed that 85% favor reducing the size of the bus stop to reclaim much-needed parking space.
The goal of this petition is to urge local transit authorities and city planners to reconsider the layout of the Maverick Street bus stop thats between Ardee Street and Aramon Street. By listening to the needs of our community, we can implement a solution that maintains essential public transportation services while respecting the residential parking challenges faced by our neighborhood.
Join us in calling for a review and resizing of the bus stop at Maverick Street. Your signature can make a difference and help reclaim the space residents desperately need for parking. Sign the petition today and support a practical and community-focused change.
