Shorten SpiceJet Staff Notice Period from Six to Three Months

Shorten SpiceJet Staff Notice Period from Six to Three Months

The Issue

After personally dedicating seven years of my life working for SpiceJet, I and many others in the same seat feel a sense of entrapment due to the extended notice period of six months. This lengthy time frame restricts us from pursuing fresh opportunities that may not wait beyond the traditional three-month notice period prevalent in many industries.

The current six-month notice period imposed by SpiceJet seems disproportionately long when compared to industry standards. It is important to note that the International Air Transport Association (IATA) does not specify or recommend such an extensive notice period, making it a policy unique to SpiceJet and not a universally accepted practice (source: IATA guidelines).

Long notice periods can also lead to a decline in employee morale and productivity, as found in a study by the International Journal of Advanced Research (IJAR). They are seen to limit employees' career movements and growth opportunities (source: IJAR).

In light of these findings, we call for SpiceJet to reevaluate their notice period policy and reduce it to the more reasonable and globally accepted three-month period. This change will contribute to a more positive working environment, increasing productivity and morale within the airline, benefitting both employees and the company alike.
