Shorten Tuttle Crossing Mall hours to keep employees safe until AC is fixed
Shorten Tuttle Crossing Mall hours to keep employees safe until AC is fixed
The Issue
The employees in this mall are being negatively impacted on a daily basis by the excessive heat. Temperatures have been ranging from the upper 80s to mid 90s inside of stores, and employees as well as their customers are becoming restless from the unbearable temperatures. Multiple employees have reported symptoms of heat exhaustion. The risks of working in such extreme heat are not worth staying open, especially because press is recommending that, in order to stay safe in the heat, people should go to malls in order to stay cool. It is misleading and potentially dangerous for someone to expect to escape the heat by coming here only to find that the conditions here are just as unbearable as their homes without power.
In order to keep employees out of the excessive heat for such long periods of time, the mall needs to at least shorten hours. Mall management has the power to help make employees and customers feel more comfortable in these unsafe conditions.
If the mall continues to do nothing about the extreme heat, then the employees in this mall will continue to be at risk of heat exhaustion/heat strokes. Do not let it get to this point.
