Anson Street Activists started this petition to Shoalhaven City Council

There is a 7 unit development being proposed for Tahnee street in Sanctuary Point. The Blue Waters estate was initially a 39 lot development. Through the State Government's Land & Environment court intervention it became a 51 lot development with dual occupancy permitted. Every DA which has gone before council has had a Dual occupancy component and been approved.  A 90 place day care centre has also been approved.  All of this on narrow streets with access from Anson street little more than a laneway.  The traffic and parking congestion this will cause in the future is unfathomable.

The cumulative effect of all this development in the same area from Aveo on Island Point Road, to the Anson Street high rise proposal, to the development on the corner of Wool Road and Wool lane right through to Links Avenue is taking its toll on this once peaceful pristine village. The loss of bushland and wildlife, the loss of the tree canopy for climate control, the increase in concrete and bitumen creating run-off to the basin waterways, the increase in population where services are already stretched and where will all these people find employment?

Development and progress is good but sustainable and sensible development has to be the most important consideration in any development.

For further information DA19/1852.  The DA is for a multi dwelling development –7 dwellings at Lot 47 in DP 1243551, Tahnee Street, Sanctuary Point.
