Shenandoah "13th Avenue Safety & Prosperity Project" Cuban Memorial Blvd

The Issue

To All Shenandoah Residents:

Our beloved neighborhood of Shenandoah, located in Coral Way, Miami, FL, is home to a diverse community of young Families, Elderly Residents, Children and Tourists who visit our Historic Cuban Memorial Blvd throughout the year.

However, the main road that runs through our neighborhood - SW 13th Ave - has become a danger to all who live and visit here. This road stretches for a mile , Tree lined with a beautiful Pathway that curves seamlessly throughout the canopy.

But, without any stop signs from North to South the speed limit of 30 mph is to often exceeded by drivers despite it being a Residential Area!

(Residential is typically 20 mph) Its filled with Pedestrians such as Children, Wheelchair-Bound Elderly, Citizens Jogging, Dog Walking ,Cyclists and Electric Scooter users and Mothers taking their children to school, making it even more crucial for traffic calming measures.

It is also home the  Prestigious Coral Way Elementary School that is located directly on the Boulevard as well , which has Children walking to and from  School Everyday ! Our Children are in Danger!

According to the National Association of City Transportation Officials (NACTO), residential areas typically have speed limits of 20 -25 mph or lower to ensure safety. Yet our residential area has been overlooked with its higher speed limit and lack of stop signs.

The potential future growth of this is at risk if we do not address this issue now! We must preserve this historic area for future generations that we all love so much while ensuring the Safety First and foremost of its residents and visitors alike.

We call upon local authorities to implement traffic calming measures such as installing Speed Tables and or Stop Signs along SW 13th Ave in Shenandoah and reducing the speed limit to 20mph according to NACTO guidelines for residential areas. Let us make our neighborhood safe again for everyone who lives here or visits us from around the world.

There have been countless accidents on this avenue lets not have a tragedy define our neighborhood.

Please Protect Our Children, Elderly, Visitors  And Our Beloved Pets!
