Former Horizons principal Paul Colwell is set to be the assistant principal at Shawnee Mission West High School next year. He has had numerous complaints filed against him, that have continued to be ignored by the Shawnee Mission School Board. Students AND teachers have spoken out about his sexist, homophobic, and racist remarks and actions. His blatant bullying is unacceptable and a danger to students and faculty.

Paul Colwell has made a habit of preying on the weak. He has sexually harassed his peers, racially profiled his students, “disciplined” in a unilateral and authoritarian way, ignored sexual assault allegations, and forcibly outed children on more than one occasion. One instance resulting in the individual becoming dangerously suicidal. 

School is supposed to be a safe and welcoming environment. Students should not have to walk in every morning afraid of being attacked by the authority figure who is supposed to protect them.

This man is a threat to the safety of students and staff across the Shawnee Mission district and we as students ask that you sign this petition to persuade SMSD to fire him once and for all.
